• We require about 50 stewards. 
  • If you wish to work with friends or partners, please mention this on your application.
  • A £60 deposit will be invoiced prior to the festival and refunded once the allocated hours have been fulfilled. This invoice must be paid a month prior to the event for planning purposes.
  • A DBS check may be carried out. If you are DBS checked then please let us know on your application.
  • We will communicate with you by email – please check your junk or spam folder.
  • You are applying to be a festival volunteer. Generally, it is first come first served.
  • If you application is successful, our team will be in touch to arrange your hours and duties. Applications will be approved before April 2024.
  • Please DO NOT BUY a festival ticket until you’ve heard from us, as refunds are not available.
  • Marshals are required to work approximately 16 hours during the three -day festival weekend; 28hours if working non-festival days.
  • Priority will be given to people who are flexible about what hours and days they can work. Once you have checked in for duty, we expect you to be available for all the days and rotas you have agreed to work. Expect to work at least one morning, one afternoon and one evening shift.
  • The task force team can include a variety of stewarding duties and you will be required to ‘check in’ at the steward’s desk each day for work allocation. You must be prepared to work whatever is assigned to you that day. In case of emergencies and high demand for jobs we may ask you to take over another area mid shift. The event environment is very dynamic so please be prepared to get stuck in where ever is needed.
  • There are NO light duties available, please do not ask. If you apply to steward, we assume you are fit enough to be able to stand for at least two hours on shift and the festival site is extensive so expect plenty of walking too. 
  • The site covers a large area and communication is via radios. Training will be given prior to the festival in regards to our emergency action plans. These will also be sent to you via email so please make familiarise yourself with these prior to the festival. 
  • You will always be working in a minimum of a team of two with one radio. 
  • We expect all of of our staff and volunteers to be friendly and approachable. You will be supplied with a lanyard which will have all the information you need so you can help any visitor. You will also be supplied with a high viz which you will wear at all times.
We expect all of our volunteers to muck in and work as a team. During festival hours your will work 4 hour shifts. Those of your wishing to work pre and post festival will work 7 hour shifts.

We will try and work with you and vary the shifts patterns to make it fair to all. Please let us know on your application form what hours you would prefer.

Below, is some examples of the duties you will be expected to undertake. We expect everyone to work as a team and we will make sure that all our volunteers have a fabulous time!

  • Festival set up / take down support:  Pre festival days -28 hours. Duties will include helping with set up and take down from Tuesday 30th April - Monday 6th May. Days / hours to be worked are Tues - Thurs (pre festival) - 10:00 - 17:00 and Tuesday 7th (post festival) 10:00 - 17:00.  No hours will be worked during the festival and your time is yours to enjoy. You must be fit enough for lots of lifting and carrying.
  • Camping gate staff and marshals: Friday morning arrival is essential. You will be required to assist with marshalling within the camping areas. Duties will begin Friday at 11:00. Your shifts will be 4 hour shifts at a time. You will also be required to man the gate at times during the festival. Hours and shift times will be issued prior to the festival. 
  • Car park marshals: You will be required to assist with parking day visitors. Your shifts will be 4 hour shifts starting at 9:00.
  • Gate staff & information booth:  Duties will include scanning tickets and issuing visitors with wristbands. The gate will also be the information booth so you will be required to man this once the busy period is over. These shifts will be 4 hour shifts.
  • Fire wardens: Full training will be given on what to do in the event of a fire. As a warden, we do not expect you to fight any fires but to spot any issues and report them. This will include identifying any hazards for preventative measures. These will  be 4 hour shifts. If you are a fire warden, you will not be asked to undertake any other duties other than the task in hand.
  • Event sanitation duties: It is essential that all volunteers are happy to take part in waste management and site sanitation duties. This job is essential for the enjoyment of everyone at the festival. Duties will include litter picking (with gloves and litter grabber tools), reporting any full bins to main control, checking the toilets and showers every 30 mins, venue cleanliness such as ensuring the event is clean and presentable at all times. Please note that we will have cleaners on site throughout the festival so your duties will simply be to report any issues you may come across. You may be asked to close a toilet temporarily but never to clean it. 
  • Smile: At Camp Svern - Kids Festival we want every single visitor to feel welcome. A smile and hello goes a long way and will encourage people to ask questions. Our staff and volunteers will be representing us and we need happy, smiley faces. Chat to people, have fun and enjoy your self!
  • You must be at least 18-years-old on your first day of availability.
  • A deposit for £60 will be invoiced and must be paid at least a month before the festival. The deposit will be refunded once your duties have been fulfilled.
  • A DBS check may be carried out. If you are already DBS checked, please let us know on your application.
  • Your priority as a steward is to help us run Camp Severn - Kids Festival efficiently. We ask that you take pride in your stewarding duties and meet the commitment of your shifts. If you are placed on a rota, then we expect you to work the hours allocated to you. All rotas will be allocated fairly.
  • Anyone who fails to honour their stewarding commitments without a valid reason will have their pass revoked and any future applications will be turned down. You will also loose your £60 deposit.
  • All stewards will be part of the task force team. Your duties will vary so be prepared switch roles when needed. 
  • All stewards are required to act in a calm and professional manner and be vigilant, courteous, sober and health and safety conscious. Drinking alcohol and smoking whilst on duty is not permitted at any time. 
  • Our team  will brief you regarding your responsibilities for your area of work. They will fully support you in your role. 
  • You must return your Camp Severn tabard to your team leader after each shift, so the next person can use it. Do not take them home.
  • Dogs are welcome on site but, importantly, must be looked after by someone else while you are on duty – so please don’t take your dog to work as not everyone is dog friendly. Dogs are not allowed in covered venues.
  • Volunteers with children must have child care when they are on duty.
  • We reserve the right to revoke passes of any volunteers who we deem to not be acting within our terms and conditions. We expect our volunteers to represent Camp Severn Festival in the manner of which we expect.
